6 Pillars of Self-Improvement
Hi everyone!
Today, I am sharing with you the six pillars of self-improvement.
The purpose of this newsletter is for guidance only. The following pillars will not contain detailed information but the main subtopics and brief explanations to help you better orient yourself in self-improvement and discover what you are missing.
Health
Health is the most important thing in life. Without it, you cannot enjoy it.
There are two types of health:
Physical
Exercise, diet, and sleep. These are the most important factors determining a person’s health. If you take care of these three, you are physically healthy.
Exercise can even be a walk. But what I highly recommend to anyone is going to the gym—I’ll cover this topic soon.
Diet is even more important than exercise. I’m not telling you anything specific—in the future, I will but about bodybuilding—because it depends on your activity level, age, and goals. But a piece of universal advice is to eat only whole foods. This is the secret to health and longevity.
Sleep is crucial for physical health and well-being. I suggest sleeping for around 8 hours. But unwinding in the evening can be even more important. By turning off any screens at least 1 hour before bed, meditating, having a warm shower or bath, and reading, you will sleep much better.
Mental
Meditation, gratitude journaling, and nature.
Meditation is the best practice for improving not only mental health, but also focus, happiness, calmness, emotional control, and so on. All of this for just 5-10 minutes a day.
Roughly the same thing as gratitude journaling. Writing down five things you are grateful for daily will make you much happier and more present.
Spending time in nature kills stress, anxiety, and overwhelm. Try going for a walk in nature for at least 3 hours a week—after a few weeks, you’ll be surprised by the results.
Wealth
I’m not going in-depth about this topic, as I’m only at the beginning. But wealth is what brings you financial freedom, time freedom, and location freedom.
As I get more experienced, I will write about one-person business and solopreneur stuff.
For now, try to find your purpose—which we’ll talk about in a moment.
Wisdom
Wisdom includes any form of education and learning like books, courses, articles—like this one—videos, podcasts, etc.
I’ve already covered the topic of books in the last publication.
Other sources of knowledge and education are great, but nothing beats books.
Habits
Habits are the most important factor for the long-term sustainability of self-improvement; by keeping track of them, you can see where you are going.
One book I highly recommend to anyone about this topic is “Atomic Habits” by James Clear. This book is the best of the best—if you don’t want to buy it and save time, here’s my summary.
Network
Network is the best part of self-improvement. Having like-minded friends that force you to push harder will inevitably get you better results.
With the internet, it is now possible to meet and connect with many more people who share your same interests. Do not waste the power of the internet.
Purpose
This is last but not least.
Purpose is what drives and keeps a person alive. It is the energy that makes you get up each morning with desire. Without that, we are empty and soulless people.
So now, I’ll leave you with one of my tweets about this topic:
